Who we are
Connecting generations through media and technology
Cosmopolis Foundation is a non-governmental organisation founded in 2024 with a clear, long-term mission: to develop contemporary civil society, stimulate social innovation, and preserve Bulgaria’s cultural and historical heritage through the power of digital culture and new media.
At the heart of the organisation is a team of established Bulgarian journalists with more than 30 years of professional experience in print, broadcast and digital media. Over the decades we have shown that accurate information, ethical standards and an objective account are the most valuable tools for changing the public environment. Today we combine that media experience with the energy of contemporary technology to create meaningful, working social projects.
We believe the digital era should unite people, not divide them. Our long-term aim is to establish the organisation as a leading innovation centre in Sofia and across the country, turning contemporary technology into a tool for social change, lifelong learning, and the preservation of historical memory.
What we do
Bridges between generations, media literacy and living heritage
Our work runs in five strands: connecting older people’s experience with young people’s digital skills; media literacy against disinformation; youth media academies; digitising urban and cultural heritage; and social inclusion through active ageing.
Each strand feeds the others. Training in the pensioners’ clubs becomes a neighbourhood podcast; fieldwork at Sofia’s mineral springs becomes an audio guide; a handbook written for older people becomes a tool the whole city can reuse.
